Musical Theater Production Class Grades 3-6

Do you have a child who loves to perform? Does he or she sing and dance their way through the house? Make up their own shows in the living room, backyard, playroom and anywhere else they can get someone to watch? Let us channel that energy into a year of great learning culminating in a performance of Willy Wonka! Students will enjoy learning about singing, dancing and acting in a fun class. Class will culminate in a production of Willy Wonka Kids in April! All students who enroll will be cast. Auditions will be held in the Fall.

Musical Theater Production Class Grades 7-12AR-170429975

This class will cover all aspects of musical theater! With acting, we’ll discover theater exercises, acting motivation, speaking skills, characterization. With dance, studetns will learn basic theater movement, expressing feeling and stories through movement and integrating dance into musical theater scenes. And in singing, students will learn basic technique, enunciation, and the basics of vocal preparation for a role. Class will culminate in a production of Willy Wonka Jr in April! All students who enroll will be cast. Auditions will be held in the Fall.

Acting & One Act Play Workshop Grades 3-6

This class will focus on the fundamentals of acting. Students will learn stage terminology and basic acting principles like stage directions, blocking and memorization techniques in a fun, upbeat atmosphere. Classes will focus on exploration of the voice, body movement and development of stage presence to help students better communicate as a performer. Students will work together to choose an ensemble-driven One Act play to perform in the Spring and will incorporate rehearsals for that production into classes each week. Auditions will be held in the fall  for roles.

Interested in musical theater dance, but don’t have time to invest in multiple recitals and a complicated schedule at a dance studio? Study at FAPA! In this class, students will have fun learning Broadway-style dance including dance technique and vocabulary. Dance is consistently the area we hear kids struggle with the most as they get older in musical theater programs, so get a head start and begin improving those skills now!

Musical Theater Choreography Grades 7-12

Interested in improving your musical theater dance technique, but don’t have time to invest in multiple recitals and a complicated schedule at a dance studio? Study at FAPA! In the performing business, auditions are your tests and dance class is where you study! This class will focus on dance technique, strength, flexibility, and endurance. Students will learn the dance vocabulary used in musical theater and will build the skills used in any audition setting.

Music Appreciation, Theory & History
Grades 3-6–

This class will cover many of the Georgia standards for middle/high school music education in a setting suitable for students of all musical experience levels. Students will learn to use instruments (including their voice), music reading and notation, composition, critical analysis, historical context, and music in relation to culture. Using a variety of genres and quality literature, students will learn to appreciate and understand music of all types from around the world while become published composers themselves! Class will culminate in a showcase of the students’ original works on the instrument of their choice.

Improv
Grades 3-6–Thursdays 2:30-3:30pm
Grades 7-12–Thursadys 3:30-4:30pm

This class teaches the basics of improv and introduces students to the fundamental aspects of performing. Using games and exercises to develope social skills, public speaking and confidence, the focus of the class is on physical expression and verbal communication. Using the concept of “Yes, and…”, this class will get kids on their feet learning new and exciting ways to work with their peers and to make new friends.There’s no better way to build great friendships than to LAUGH and be creative together!

Book Adaptation & Performance
Grades 3-6

Students will exercise and broaden their writing skills by taking an existing piece of quality children’s literature and adapting it into a play, which they will then perform! Each class meeting involves both writing and acting exercises culminating in a final performance to showcase the class’ play. This is an excellent opportunity to build reading comprehension, critical thinking and writing skills along with cultivating great acting technique!

Personal Storytelling
Grades 7-12

First person storytelling as a performance has gained in popularity in recent years. In this class, students will learn how to take true events from their own lives and weave them into engaging performances. We will work on presentation, story structure, different approaches and creating a unique style. This is the perfect course for students interested in enhancing their public speaking skills!

 

FAPA has an annual Registration Fee of $35, which is due in September.
The second student from the same family has a registration fee of  $25.
Additional family members’ registration fees are waived.

There is a 10% discount on each additional class after the first registration per family.
