Audition info:
*Please prepare a one minute cut of a musical theater song (more details below)
*Please come ready with the dance combination already learned. (More info below.) Wear clothes and shoes you can move in.
*Please prepare the short sides below prior to auditions.
SCENE INFO:
Please prepare these short sides in advance.
- For the acting sides students will act with other people in the audition, so be comfortable playing any character in the scene. You do not need to be memorized but be familiar with the lines so you can add in movement as you act out the characters. You will have access to the full stage, acting blocks and a bench to use if you want to for this scene. Creativity and big character choices help your audition be memorable and lets us know you are comfortable making big choices on stage.
- Here are the audition scenes for you to practice: Beetlejuice Audition Scenes

SONG INFO:

Questions about what to choose? Read on! The idea is to pick a song from a different musical that fits the style of the character you are specifically interested in. If you can’t find an appropriate song that fits your voice well, that’s okay, too! Sing something that is vocally comfortable, enjoyable to sing and shows off the best parts of your voice! An audition is all about making a great impression and showing off your strengths in a short presentation and the best way to do that is with something you can enjoy and show some character with!
Please come with your accompaniment track (all instrumental, no voices on the track) pre-saved. We have found the best way to do this is:
1. Find a track on Youtube (search the name of your song with “karaoke” and you’ll usually have luck finding what you’re looking for!)
2. Screen record the cut of the song you’ll be singing onto a personal device (smartphone, tablet, etc.) This way you won’t have to fiddle through Youtube, find the starting point in the track and hope the internet holds up during your audition.
3. On audition day, come with your device and personal bluetooth speaker already connected to each other so that you can come in for the audition, tell us who you are and be ready to sing with minimal hassle and worry!
Still have questions? We’re happy to help!
