Inspired by a true story and featuring the Tony®-nominated score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, Broadway’s BRIGHT STAR tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past—and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. With beautiful melodies and powerfully moving characters, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion. An uplifting theatrical journey that holds you tightly in its grasp, BRIGHT STAR is as refreshingly genuine as it is daringly hopeful.
FAPA is thrilled to be presenting this story as our summer community musical. Auditions are open to actors ages 16 and up. No roles are precast and we are looking for non-union/equity actors of all ages to help us tell this story. We are very excited to announce that we will be presenting this musical with the live accompaniment of a bluegrass ensemble for a very unique experience for actors and audience members. In light of that, please plan to bring SHEET MUSIC and not a performance track to your audition. An accompanist will be provided.

Performances will be held at Forsyth Academy of Performing Arts July 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th and 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th.
For your audition:
Please prepare a 1 minute cut of a musical theater, country or bluegrass song in the style of the show. Please DO NOT bring a track to sing with…you should bring sheet music clearly marked for the accompanist that will be provided.
