Acting Up

Ages 11-15 (6th-11th grades)

One of our most popular classes, Acting Up is FAPA’s specially designed curriculum for teaching all of the elements of acting on stage to students of all levels of experience. Students in this class will enjoy creative acting games, improvisation, scenes, monologues, creative writing and story-telling all geared specifically towards their age group! Perfect for students interested in giving acting a try without jumping directly into a production experience OR for those more experienced students who are interested in improving their acting technique. Parents will be invited to at least two showcases during the course of the class to experience what the kids are working on. Class runs August 12th through May 14th.

Mondays 6:30-7:30pm (Tuition: $78/month)

 

Musical Theater Production: The Adams Family

Ages 12-17 (6th-12th grades)

They’re creepy and they’re kooky…you know the rest! The Adams Family musical features all of your favorite characters: Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch, Cousin It and more as we tell the story of the straight-laced Beineke family’s son, Lucas, falling in love with Wednesday Adams and the madness that ensues!

Performances will be December 20th and 21st. All students who enroll will be cast…NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! Tuition (monthly from August-December) and production fee ($65 due November 1st) includes all instruction related to the class, production materials like costumes and props, a script and a cast t-shirt for each performer. Auditions will be held the second week of class, but don’t worry! We’ll teach you everything you need to know!

Tuition and Fees:
Tuition: $115/month August through December with a $65 production fee due November 1st.

 

Musical Theater Production: Legally Blonde

Ages 12-17 (6th-12th grades)

Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle’s boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she’s not “serious” enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren’t mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.

Play Production: The Seussification of a Midsummer Night’s Dream

Ages 13-17 (7th-12th grades)

The Bard’s most beloved comedy gets the full Seuss treatment in this playful adaptation. Two madcap Narrators chronicle the tale of the mixed-up lovers as they wander through a forest full of whoosh bush tush beasts and fairies dueling with bumballoon swords. Told in rhyming couplets, this re-imagining is how Shakespeare’s magical tale might have played if Dr. Seuss had gotten his hands on it.

No experience necessary! All who enroll will be cast! Tuition (monthly from August-December) and production fee ($65 due November 1st) includes all instruction related to the class, production materials like costumes and props, a script and a cast t-shirt for each performer. Performances will be December 13th and 14th. All students who enroll will be cast.

Tuesdays: 7-9pm (Tuition: $98/month January-April)
Tuition and Fees: $98/month August-December. There is a $65 production fee due November 1st that includes a cast t-shirt for every performer.

 

Small Group Voice Workshop

Ages 12-16 (7th-11th grades)

The adolescent voice presents its own challenges for both boys and girls. This class will help students navigate their developing voice by teaching solid technique through breath support and tonal production along with how to make good choices in music for their voice type. It’s important to lay solid groundwork for great vocal technique and this is the perfect place to start! We finish the class with an informal recital on November 5th at 6pm. Family and friends are welcome to attend! At less than half the cost of private lessons, this is a great introduction to vocal technique in an affordable small group setting. Tuition is due August-October.

Tuition: $78/month August, September and October

 

Technical Theater Workshop

Ages 13-17 (7th-12th grades)

This class will work to learn all of the elements that go into what it takes to make the on-stage magic happen behind the scenes. Students will work to assist in the design and execution of all of our 2024-2025 season of shows. From the sets to lights to sound to stage management, students will work weekly with our FAPA design staff and they’ll also have the opportunity to sign up to work on the Tech crew for each production throughout the year. Class meets once per week and will run from August 13th through May 13, 2025.

Tuesdays: 5:30-7pm
Tuition: $82/month

Advanced Acting Technique

Ages 14-17 (8th-12th grades)

NEW! This 12-week acting intensive will cover all the acting techniques you need to be a working professional actor. We will cover Stanasklavski, Meisner, Uta Hagen, on- camera acting, monologues, cold reads, scene work, and much more. This is the perfect class for those working towards college auditions or looking to prepare to land an agent or their first acting job. This is an audition-only class with limited availability so that each student can receive individualized attention.
