MUSICAL THEATER COURSES:
Musical theater training goes well beyond the benefits of singing and dancing well on stage. Building confidence, embracing team work, persevering through difficult circumstances and embracing glimpses of history and culture through quality literature are just a few of the added benefits to performing on stage!
Storybook Theater for Ages 4-5
Mondays 4:00-5:15pm OR
Tuesdays 4:30-5:15pm OR
Students will reenact classic children’s stories through drama, dance and music. Children will play theater games, pantomime, make puppets, sing, dance and act their way through a fun semester! They will learn to develop physical expression, characterization, social skills, teamwork, memorization, as well as an understanding of classic stories. Drama classes help to build kids’ confidence, grow their creativity and increase their pre-reading and reading comprehension skills…all while having fun!!
Musical Theater Production Class Grades 1-2
$62/month August-April+$35 production fee due in March
Do you have a child who loves to perform? Does he or she sing and dance their way through the house? Make up their own shows in the living room, backyard, playroom and anywhere else they can get someone to watch? Let us channel that energy into a year of great learning and two fabulous performances! Students will enjoy learning about singing, dancing and acting in a fun class culminating in a special holiday performance: The Christmas Kidbaret, where kids will be featured in musical numbers and scenes with Broadway classics and holiday favorites. Students will also spend the year preparing for our FAPA Spring Production: The Lion King! Our 1st and 2nd grade friends will perform their own special version of the show in May!

Elf Jr: The Musical! Grades 6-10
4 payments of $78 + $35 production fee due in October
FAPA is proud to present this modern-day holiday classic in all its hilarious, heart-warming musical glory! Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. All students who sign up will be cast. Auditions will be held at the second class meeting.
Musical Theater Choreography Grades 4-6
Interested in musical theater dance, but don’t have time to invest in multiple recitals and a complicated schedule at a dance studio? Study dance at FAPA! In this class, students will have fun learning Broadway-style dance including dance technique and vocabulary. Dance is consistently the area we hear kids struggle with the most as they get older in musical theater programs, so get a head start and begin improving those skills now! Students will perform in a special showcase at the end of the semester.
Musical Theater Choreography Grades 7-12
Interested in improving your musical theater dance technique, but don’t have time to invest in multiple recitals and a complicated schedule at a dance studio? Study at FAPA! In the performing business, auditions are your tests and dance class is where you study! This class will focus on dance technique, strength, flexibility, and endurance. Students will learn the dance vocabulary used in musical theater and will build the skills used in any audition setting. Students will perform in a special showcase at the end of the semester.
Research shows that studying music activates learning centers in the brain and facilitates the learning of other disciplines. Increased IQ, spacial-temporal skills, improved test scores and language development are just a few of the added benefits to practicing the discipline of music!
Group Voice Class
Grades 1-2: Mondays 3:45-4:30pm $48/month August-December
Grades 3-5: Mondays 6:00-7:00pm $58.month August-December
If your child loves to sing, this is the perfect way to begin their training. Students in this class will have fun learning good singing habits, breath support, basic music-reading skills and will enjoy performing on a Voice Recital at the end of the semester. With young children, it’s important to teach good technique for a lifetime of healthy singing. This is the place to start! All students are invited to sing on a showcase at the end of the semester!
Group Voice Class for Middle School GIRLS
The middle school voice presents its own unique challenges for both boys and girls. This class will help girls navigate their changing and developing voice by teaching solid technique through breath support and tonal production along with how to make good choices in music for their voice type. All students are invited to sing on a showcase at the end of the semester!

Ukulele for Grades 5th-8th
Thinking of learning to play ukulele? Been watching Youtubers teach basic chords and songs online? Now’s your chance to learn in real life! We’ll cover tuning, chords, how to read chord charts and basic tableture and we’ll create our own Youtube channel of songs and tutorials! All students are invited to perform on a showcase at the end of the semester!
ACTING & IMPROV COURSES & PRODUCTIONS
Being a student of acting and improvisation not only makes a performance more believable on stage, but it also builds character, empathy, communication skills, public speaking ability, and trust; not to mention confidence!
The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe Production
$4 payments of $68 + $35 production fee due in October
FAPA is proud to present this new dramatization of C.S. Lewis’ classic, set in the land of Narnia. Students will recreate the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end the reign of Aslan. All the memorable episodes from the story are represented in this exciting dramatization: the temptation of Edmund by the witch, the slaying of the evil wolf by Peter, the witnessing of Aslan’s resurrection by Susan and Lucy, the crowing of the four new rulers of Narnia, and more. This story of love, faith, courage and giving, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life. All students who enroll in the production will be cast. Auditions will be held during the third class meeting.
Beginning Acting for Grades 3-5
Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm OR
This class will focus on the fundamentals of acting. Students will learn stage terminology and basic acting principles like stage directions, blocking and memorization techniques in a fun, upbeat atmosphere. Classes will focus on exploration of the voice, body movement and development of stage presence to help students better communicate as a performer. Basic scene work will be incorporated to encourage teamwork along with pantomime, improv and monologue development. Classwork will culminate with students performing in FAPA’s Night of Scenes at the end of the semester.
Intermediate Acting for Grades 6-8
$58/month August-DecemberThis class will continue to build on the fundamentals of acting by focusing on scene work. Students will learn how to break down a scene to understand the subtleties of what’s going on with the characters along with learning to analyze the relationships of characters in a scene. Classes will focus on exploration of the voice, body movement and development of stage presence to help students better communicate as a performer. Classwork will include monologue study as well as audition coaching. Students will perform in a showcase at the end of the semester.
Advanced Acting for Grades 9-12
This course is designed to aid serious theater students in their acting abilities. The class will cover movement, voice, scene and play analysis, scene work including an emphasis on objectives, obstacles, and acting techniques, improvisational skills, character analysis and performance, monologues, audition skills, dramaturgy, and career paths. This is the perfect course to aid in preparing for upcoming auditions for school, Literary Meet events, college auditions and GHP preparation.
NEW! Intro to On Camera Acting Ages 12-18
Every performer should know that acting for the stage and acting for the camera are two entirely different skill sets. This class will focus on the art of on-camera acting for film and television. Students will work to learn how to achieve and respond with believable and honest emotions in front of the camera. Readings, exercises and discussions will give actors an accesible resource to begin buiding the skills to be successful in Georgia’s current booming film/tv industry. Concepts covered will include slating, hitting marks, cold reading, camera vs. stage, auditioning and much more. Taught by Sunny Williams, an actor/director/coach with years of experience in this industry, this course is sure to help students gain the skills and confidence they need to begin mastering their craft in a whole new way.
Sketch Writing Grades 7-12
Students will learn how to take their funny ideas, unique personalities, and enjoyable ensemble improvisations to make written sketches, which they will then perform as a full show. This class involves on-your-feet acting along with writing exercises. There will be some homework! Students will perform on a showcase at the end of the semester.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed at least one improv class at FAPA.
Grades 3-5: Tuesdays 6:30-7:30pm
Grades 6-10: Tuesdays 7:30-8:30pm
This class teaches the basics of improv and introduces students to the fundamental aspects of performing. Unsing games and exercises to develop social skills and confidence, the focus of the class is on physical expression and verbal communication. Using the concept of “Yes, and…” this class will get kids on their feet learning new and exciting ways to work with their peers and to make new friends. There’s no better way to build great friendships than to LAUGH and be creative together! Students will perform on a showcase at the end of the semester.
Grades 3-5: Thursdays 6:30-7:30pm
Grades 6-10: Thursdays 7:30-8:30pm
Building on the concepts taught in Beginning Improv, students will continue to grow their improvisational skills by creating scenes with other students. The focus of this class will be creating characters, building strong scenic relationships, listening and continuing to grow the concept of “Yes, and…” to keep scenes going. Creating great scenes through improv is challenging, but rewarding! Scenework invites students to take their Improv skills to the next level; taking the skills they’ve learned from playing games and exercises to build exciting scenes, friendships AND self confidence! Students will perform on a showcase at the end of the semester.
**Students must have taken Ms Amanda’s Improv class for at least two semesters prior to enrolling in this class.
TECHNICAL THEATER COURSES
Nothing that happens on stage is possible without the hard-working and imaginative minds of the folks behind the scenes. Technical theater classes take creative minds and give them a place to focus: to draw, dream, design, build, construct and create worlds that transport audiences away.
Theatrical Design Workshop Ages 12-18
This class is geared towards students who are interested in the artistic elements that transform a theatrical performance into a world of its own. Students will study scenic design and painting, costume design and construction and special effects makeup design and application. The students in this class will gain real life experience by designing and creating sets, costumes and make up for our FAPA Spring Production, The Lion King!
Technical Theater Grades 6-12
Tech Theater is a unique class that teaches students the “behind the scenes” elements of theater. We will explore what it takes offstage to create magic onstage. In this year-long class, we will cover set design, sound design, costume design, prop-building, stage management and everything in between. Students will learn about the different roles of the “Techies”. This class is perfect for the actor who wants to learn more about their passion, or for the student who enjoys theater without the limelight. There’s a place in Tech Theater for everyone no matter what their theatrical strengths are!

FAPA has an annual Registration Fee of $35, which is due in August.
The second student from the same family has a registration fee of $25.
Additional family members’ registration fees are waived.
There is a 10% discount on each additional class after the first registration per family.
